Online Resources

This Our Place has been created in response to discussions with teachers during training sessions.  They explained that using Merlin was a new challenge for them and that it was an additional, if slightly addictive, distraction to spend time looking for online resources.  They were concerned that they might be enfringing copyright or that they would spend hours looking for resources and still not have found anything which might appeal to their learners.  Thirdly they were sometimes unsure of the different ways in which they could display the resources they had found.

This Our Place attempts to help with these three areas:

  • Information about copyright and creative commons
  • Sources of reliable and engaging online resources
  • Showcasing a range of ways to display your resources

Throughout the site you will find hyperlinks to other sites and 'how to' guides which will help you on your Merlin journey!

 Creative Commons

There are so many resources available on the web; films, photos, games and much more.  But how do you know what you are allowed to share and reuse and what you can't?
One solution is to look for items which are designated as Creative Commons - in other words they have been produced and uploaded to the web with the purpose of being shared.
Check out this common sense guide and poster to Creative Commons which you can print off and stick on your noticeboard to remind yourselves to share!
