German and French resources developed by Plymouth High SchoolUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).

Plymouth school has recently finished a Becta funded languages project which is well worth looking at: There is a supporting video and resources on this link: www.southwellweb.co.uk/plymouth

T
he project team recognised a need to bridge a gap in Modern Foreign Language teaching between KS2 students from primary schools and KS3 high school students so they are better able to meet the challenge of the National Languages Strategy for 2010.
Students from the High School played a major part in the research and exploration phase of their Re-use project. In June 2008 they collected existing online language resources and produced a short list of materials that they considered would best engage students at KS2.  Their research also included ‘focus groups’ of KS2 students who met to discuss the resources they are currently using and what e-learning resources they would most like to use in lessons.
The PHSG students used this information to produce a short list of e-learning resources for German and French lessons and worked with their teachers to explore how these resources could be used by KS2 teachers to maximise their potential.  The students invented singing games, movement exercises and visual quizzes to go with the resources and their teachers summarised the work in the form of two lessons plans one for German the other for French together with teacher notes for their KS2 colleagues.
