We welcome back Mr Caine Jackman (SCITT trainee teacher) this term who will be working alongside Mrs Power.

Our spellings last half term were particularly successful and many children are now applying the spelling they have learnt in their writing. We will be returning to weekly spelling lists to learn for tests on Monday.

Watch out for news on Year 2 Family Learning courses. You should already have received information about the Drama course. There will also be a healthy eating/cooking course running for 6 weeks next term.

Our topic for the first half of the Summer Term is Meerkats & Africa.
We will be finding out about how life is different in Africa and the geography of Africa.  The book 'Meerkat Mail' will be the focus of our Literacy work on explanation texts.  Our R.E. work will focus on comparing creation stories from different cultures.  The children are really looking forward to creating African art and learning the 'meerkat dance'!

New Literacy homeworkUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Yes
From after Half Term until Easter we will be revising the spellings home work. Instead of sending home lists of spellings the children will have a piece of Literacy homework in their homework books weekly. This will take the form of a spellings story. We will be asking the children to copy the story into their books and ensure that they fill in missing words ( these missing words will be based on their spelling patterns) and also make sure that the sentences are punctuated with capital letters and full stops. Many thanks.
