Tavistock College European Day of Languages Key Stage 2 Competition
September – October 2010

The Council of Europe has declared 26th September an annual European Day of Languages to highlight the importance of multilingualism and celebrate linguistic diversity! It has been celebrated annually since 2001.

This year the 26th September falls on a Sunday and Languages Week follows on from this day.

The competition is open to all schools in the SSLN group.

So what do you have to do to enter?

Each school within the SSLN group is invited to submit one video file on CD/DVD of students taking part in a cafe role play. The videos should then be sent to Tavbistock College, F.A.O Miss S Bartlett. The scripts - in French and Spanish - can be found below and schools need to insert their own choice of vocabulary into the gaps and can interpret the role play in any way they wish!

Schools could present this competition to their students around the date of the official Languages Day on the 26th September and then all entries should be submitted on or before Monday 18th October 2010.

The winning school will receive three prizes - one for each of the students playing the waiter and the customer in the role play and one for the supervising / directing teacher.

Many thanks to our sponsors, Todds, Mainly Stationery and Odds and Suds.
