 Rhapsody in E

 Rhapsody in E

(Chorus twice)
E-safe, e-safety
E-safe, e-safety
Stay safe in cyberspace
Stay safe in cyberspace

Where would we be without the web?
It’s such a huge part of our daily bread
And over the years it’s opened up
A whole new way to keep in touch.

With friends, make new friends, buy some bling.
Check out the latest everything.
But like the coolest things in life
The internet has risks which are so rife.

The good news is by being smart
You can handle most things from the start.
And you’ll never miss the fun and you’ll never lose face
If you follow our guide to cyber space.

(Chorus twice)

It’s hard to know for sure, it’s sure not worth a bet
Exactly who you’re talking to on the net.
Anyone pretends to be someone they’re not,
That girl or guy who says same age - should stop.

They say they have the same interests as you
But are they’re looking for a target to abuse?
Outsmart them fast and use a nickname.
Giving personal contact details is a fool’s game.

Take great care giving info online.
Message boards and chat rooms are a waste of time.
No to heaps of e-mails from dudes that seem fine.
Cos really they just want to commit crime.

(Chorus twice)

Put a picture of yourself on the internet;
It can be copied by all even if you forget.
E-mailing pics to someone called Noddy;
Do you really want your head on another body?

The forward button really only needs a click
And you could be in trouble - others take the mick.
Upset if someone wants to meet you in the flesh;
Call a trusted adult but never say yes.

That virtually cute girl or superfly guy,
It’s not worth meeting someone whose told you lies.
So never visit websites you never have seen
Unless trusted friends or family are keen.

(Chorus twice)

Rules are what you need when you’re surfing on the net.
If you follow these rules you sure won’t have regret.
Numero Uno of these never chat to strangers,
Of all the things you do, this is the biggest danger.

Keep your passwords safe, be careful what you click.
Some pages have bad pictures, make sure you get off quick.,
Keep hush your e-mail laddy, don’t give it to a baddy,
Don’t lie about your age. Do you need to see that page?

(Chorus twice)

At Holy Rood we follow all these rules
We hope that’s true of all you other schools.
So don’t end up acting like a fool
But as young surfers, be always looking cool.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the Holy Rood smart rap.
If so, at the end, please give a hefty clap.
Happy or not, whatever is the case
We trust you’ll all stay safe in Cyberspace.

E-SAFE!
