In September the Key Stage 2 classes were given the opportunity to write a letter to their class mates stating why they should be on the School Council. The letters were read out and the children voted for the letter which appealed to them the most.
Each Key Stage 2 class has two representatives who gather the thoughts and suggestions of their class mates and share them at regular meetings with Mr Miah. The School Council then feedback the decisions made to their allocated classes.
So far the School Council have learnt how councillors are elected in local areas. They have also discussed what local councillors are responsible for e.g. maintaining roads, providing services and keeping the streets clean and safe.
The School Council and Eco Warriors have been combined to form a team of School Travel Ambassadors. They have worked with Mrs Jane Deeley to map out a Five Minute Walk Zone. A leaflet has been designed and this will be sent to families as we want to encourage safe and healthy journeys to school and reduce traffic in or near the school at the beginning and end of each day.
