Healthy Schools

 ‭(Hidden)‬ Merlin Theme

We recognise that students and staff cannot achieve their maximum potential if factors in their lives raise barriers and prevent individual from optimising their potential.  At St. Augustine's we offer academic support to young people for whom the National Curriculum may be, at any given time, too challenging.  This comprises intervention strategies, mentoring and alternative curricula.  Students are set realistic targets in their subject areas and will attend regular review meetings with staff.  On occasion, such support in inadequate in addressing the reasons for a student not to achieve his/her potential.  In such circumstances, further support is available and this may best be described as that which is available as part of the College’s Healthy School provision.

We strive to ensure that students are aware of the need to eat healthily, to maintain a high level of physical activity, to interact positively with their peers, family and authority, and to achieve a high level of personal esteem empowering the individual to make appropriate choices in terms of the choices they make including their relationships with others.

The links on this webpage show the agencies and staff from whom the student may seek help and guidance.  The focus for these agencies and staff members is primarily the emotional and health needs of the student.  All persons uphold the Catholic values of our students and staff.  All adopt professional codes of conduct and practice.

The student is at the heart to St Augustine’s.  The spiritual, moral, health and academic needs of the child are nurtured by all staff and agencies to allow the growth and the development of the child and the resulting success of the individual.
