The Religious Studies department has the advantage of comprising Chaplaincy, RS specialist teachers and teaching assistants: also RS specialists. Implementing a rigorous curriculum at KS3 and equally challenging GCSE and AS/A2 specifications, we strive to balance this academic pursuit with an equally dynamic Spirituality programme.
The department is responsible for the delivery of the school’s work related learning programme and a substantial portion of the integrated, PSHE programme. Sex and Relationships Education and Drugs Education are the responsibility of two members of the department and whilst the bulk of formal learning is carried out in RE lessons, we have great support across the curriculum (Biology, Drama, PE). The aims of the department are to accompany each student through their academic and spiritual journey, promoting their ability to make informed decisions for their future happiness and success, and that of the community of which they will become a part. Working from our belief in Gospel values, we encourage students to adopt these as the means to making them, tolerant, objective and dynamic members of society.
