Staverton Church of England Primary School is overseen by the Canalside Benefice of Hilperton with Whaddon, Hilperton Marsh with Staverton and Semington. The Reverend Stephen Ball takes assemblies in school and is a Foundation Governor.
FOSS
We are endebted to the enthusiastic and generous members of FOSS, the Friends Of Staverton School, our school parent association who regularly organise events either purely as socials and celebrations or as money raising events. The Christmas Bazaar, Summer Fete and Musical evenings. They also have a stall at school discos and provide the much appreciated lollies for all the children after sports day! Recent projects they have funded include new music stands, library books, gametop picnic tables and magnetic wall games for the playground. FOSS always need some enthusiastic volunteers to get involved with the core group of organisers. If you feel you would enjoy being involved in these, and perhaps your own ideas for events, do get in touch with school and we will be delighted to talk to you.
Nestlings
Nestlings the pre-school situated on School Lane between the old Staverton School (Now the Emmaus School) and the new is one of our main feeder pre-schools and friend of the school. They have recently passed their OFSTED validation and maintain excellent standards.
Governors
All state schools have a Board of Governors. Elected or coopted from the school communities, business, parents and the church, they play a strategic and monitoring role in the school. Often described as 'critical friends' of a school, the governors meet during the year, either in smaller groups or as a full board of governors, offering their own professional and personal skills and perspectives, checking progress on the School Development Plan, monitoring the budget and the curriculum. It represents an invaluable and fascinating role in which a unique perspective on the running and development of the school is gained. Should you wish to be involved at this level or think you might be, contact Fiona Young (Chair of Governors) through school, who will be happy to discuss the role.
Emmaus School
Staverton Primary shares School Lane not only with Nestlings Nursery but also Emmaus school who occupy the building that was once Staverton School. Emmaus School are an independent Christian school for children aged 5-16 with whom we are enjoying a growing friendship.
The Local Authority
Wiltshire Council support the school through all the usual means such as finance, admissions, policy guidance, law, contracts etc. Our School Improvement Partner, Peter Ward, is a familiar face around school and visits regularly for support and strategy meetings with the headteacher.
Collaborative Schools Ltd
The 21 schools of the Trowbridge area comprise a very coherent and innovative collaborative of schools; cooperating with procedures and policies as well as organising joint events, services and training. We have now formed into a social enterprise by becoming a company and a charity, existing purely to meet the needs and further the welfare of children in the Trowbridge area.
