The Governors

Chair of Governors:  Mr M. Simmons

The Governing Body of the school is made up of dedicated people who give their time, enthusiasm and expertise to help the Headteacher and her team in the running of the school.  The governors usually serve for a term of four years.

The different categories of governors are:

  • Foundation governors (representing the Church)
  • Community governors
  • Staff and teacher governors
  • Local Education Authority appointed governors
  • Parent governors (elected by parents)

The full Governing Body meets regularly to monitor progress, plan future developments and discuss relevant issues.  Sub-committees and working groups carry out a lot of the work and feed back to the full Governing Body about their specialist areas.  Finance, staffing and the curriculum are examples of these committees.

In addition to the specialist committees, individual governors take on subject responsibilities.  As 'Governor of the Month', they spend time in classrooms and meet with teachers.

For further information see the Governor's Noticeboard in the school entrance hall.
