Next Friends Meeting
Meetings are held once every half-term and we usually meet in the staff room - everyone is welcome, especially if you have never been before!! Meetings follow an agenda and (nearly) always stick to the 45 minutes allocated!
The next meeting will be on;
Tuesday 6th March 2012 at the new regular time of 6.30 - 7.15pm
The agenda will be available in the Document Library - just click on the link to the left to view it.
Quiz
Thanks to everyone who attended the recent Friends Annual Quiz. It was another brilliant night, and big thanks must go particularly to QuizMaster John Redwood, and his cohorts Anne and Simon.
John and Anne, and Simon, no longer have any direct links to BPSP, but kindly agreed to return to host this years Quiz. However, going forward there is now a 'vacancy' for a QuizMaster for 2012 onwards - so if you're interested, please get in contact via the Office, or why not come to the next Friends meeting on 6th March.
The Quiz is a significant fundraiser for the children of BPSP, last year raising £1,000, so it's important to keep it going!
And aside from the fund-raising side of things, it's also a really fun night, annually attracting around 140 people!
We Need More New Friends!!
All healthy PTA-type groups have one thing in common; a willing band of people!
Due to the natural progression of school life, parents come and go and it's really important that a steady stream of 'new' parents come in to replace those who move on.
The Friends of BPSP is a really strong group which raises huge amounts of money each year for the benefit of your child. Last year, the Summer Fair alone raised more than £10,000!
But this can only continue with your help.
Please consider what you can do to help, and then let us know! You can contact us via the school office, or simply turn up at the next meeting (see below!)
We can guarantee that you will benefit from your involvement with the Friends!
Bingo!
Thanks to everyone who came along to the Bingo Night, and special thanks to Mr Roast for his excellent calling!
Summer Fair
This years enormous, celebrity-packed Summer Fair was a fantastic success, thanks to you!
We had everyone from AFC Bournemouth's Steve Fletcher, Prince William, Marge Simpson, Cheryl Cole, and the cast of Avatar... and there was even an impromptu appearance from Harry Redknapp.
Thanks to all of the Bournemouth boys and Harry Redknapp for being so generous with their time, and thanks also to all of our 'commercial' Fair supporters.
And we are delighted to announce that you have raised a record-breaking
!! £10,000 !!
Huge thanks and credit must go to Karen Kenann who did an enormous amount of work before, during and after the Fair and pulled everything together.
Without singling out anyone else, the Friends would also like to thank all of the staff who gave their time and put so much into the Fair. And of course, thanks to all of the children who took part in any of the musical pieces.
The Fair cannot happen without the help and support of the parents, so thanks to everyone who helped out, whether that was by manning a stand, patrolling the grounds to ensure everyone was safe, or staying back after the Fair to help with packing and tidying away.
We are hoping to get some pictures up on the Friends site soon.

Where Does All the Money Go??
We regularly hold fund-raising events, but where do those funds end up?
Well, over the last couple of years, the money raised at various events has paid 100% of the cost of the outdoor classroom, and more recently £9,000 was contributed towards the purchase of the new school mini-bus, which is used extensively.
Careful thought goes into how the funds are spent, trying to focus on the 'extras' which otherwise might not happen, and particularly looking at things which will benefit as many of the schools' pupils as possible.
It's likely that over the coming years, school budgets will be 'squeezed' and more of the funds are likely to be used on smaller items, rather than 'big ticket' ones, such as the minibus. IT is a particular area which is likely to benefit from funding from Friends funds.
The staff are drawing up a 'wish-list' of items - at the moment this list includes various bits of IT equipment such as Netbooks, flip cameras, etc, Lighting Equipment for the new hall, and Sports Equipment.
As well as this, each Year was recently given £250 which they are free to decide how to use. Your ideas for how to spend the money raised are always welcome - why not come along to a meeting and have your say?

There is also a letter in the Documents/Letter section of the Friends site which details the Lost Property procedure at BPSP.
STARS!
Congratulations to all of the participants of the second BPSP Stars night. Special thanks go to Miss Mullin, Mrs Johnstone-McCarthy, Miss Revill and Mr Roast, and everyone else who contributed to the evening.
The evening couldn't have happened without the generous support of Mr Kyps - what a fantastic venue! And thanks also to the Royal Bath Hotel which provided the fantastic prize to the winning Spice Girls.
Photographs of all the acts, both on stage and backstage, can now be viewed in a private gallery. For further details please contact;

We are delighted to be able to report that BPSP was awarded the 'Best Poole Schools Website for Parental Involvement'. Mr Whitley was at the ceremony along with some pupils, and they accepted the cash prize and plaque on behalf of the school.
Well done everyone!
