 What the School Library Service can do for you

Our services are available to all schools in Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole including the Independent sector.

Our aim is to enable all schools to run effective libraries through the practical help, advice and training supplied by our professional staff, and to provide access to cost effective resources through long term and short term hire and a book purchase scheme. We work closely with Public Library and School Improvement colleagues to support reading development, learning and achievement.

We offer advice and training; resources to support the curriculum; support for reading and literacy; book purchase scheme at 25% discount and book awards and promotions. Subscriptions or Pay As You Go packages to suit all budgets.

Stories from the web is a free website used by children and young people all around the country and is accessed via the public library service. Children and young people can:

Write stories and poems
Read extracts of books online
Look for ideas for reading
Find out more about their favourite authors
Share their thoughts with other young people
Join in with lots of great activities and games

Children and young people can access Stories from the Web as individuals, by visiting their local library and asking for a log in and password.

On-line ordering, alternatively post, phone,
e-mail or fax your order •

Stock selection service available for 5% of the cost
of the order.

Delivery

•Free to subscribing schools
•2% of total order cost (minimum £5)
for non-subscribers
