News from Year 3

Year 3 Around the World

In year 3 we have been exploring the different countries of the world.

The teachers dressed as pilots on an airplane and we had made passports and our book bags and lunchboxes were our luggage. The teachers weighed our luggage. Mine was more than 2kg but luckily I got through. We had to remove any liquids from our bags.

We had tickets and boarded the plane where we had a safety talk to learn about exits and life jackets. We visited Europe, Asia and Africa on our journey.

Our Swindon Trip 27th September 2011

On Tuesday 27th September we all had to get to school by 7.45am. The coach was called a Coombs coach. I was sat next to Kaiden.

I was in Alfies Dads group then all of us had to get on the coach. We were sat in the middle of the Coombs coach. Then we were all at Swindon inside the steam museum. We all had to put our lunchboxes in a green box and we had to do the same with our coats.

We went inside an air raid shelter. It was quite small, dark and noisy beacause the sirens were really loud.

We all had a story about someone who is called Bill and another person called Betty. There were six children, three boys and  three girls. One of the boys did all of he guarding of the trains for his dad who was a train driver. One of the boys worked at the foundry and then went off to World War II. The other boy helped to fix the trains. The three girls helped their mum at home to do jobs.

We had some lunch and then we wnt to a place that was called memories. There were 3 men that told us what it was like in World War II times.

Then we went to see a lady who told us about old toys. After that we went on a steam train that had a green carpet for us to sit on. There was a hole with a fire in the steam train at the front. Then we pretended that we were being evacuated and we saw some gas masks. next we got picked up by the teachers.

Finally we got back on the coach to go back to school.

I really enjoyed the trip to the Steam Museum.
