"In Christ We Flourish"

Thank you for your interest in St Gregory’s. We are a relatively small co-educational school with explicitly Catholic Christian values and a strong ‘family’ atmosphere. We have a well deserved reputation for academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care and an excellent enrichment programme. We want all our students to flourish and develop as rounded individuals who will bear witness to the Gospel in the wider community.

In 2011, 56% of our Year 11 students achieved the English Baccalaureate, the Government’s new measure of a rounded academic education, compared to a national figure of 15% last year. 90% of all GCSE exam entries achieved A*-C and 37% of all exam entries achieved A*-A, with 68% achieving 5 or more A*-C passes including English and Mathematics. We believe that a rounded education for young people today should include the study of a modern foreign language, religious education, history or geography, as well as the core subjects of English, mathematics and triple sciences. We have a vibrant and successful performing arts and sports culture and an excellent enrichment programme, including several foreign trips every year and the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection in 2008 every aspect of our provision was judged Outstanding.  As a result we were designated a National Support School and have been invited to share our approach to Christian personalisation on the national stage. Our School Improvement Partner report from March 2011 concluded that every aspect of our provision was still outstanding. The next phase of our journey will be to prepare for a joint sixth form with St Mark’s Church of England School in Bath with a view to opening in September 2013. On 14 July 2011, the full Council of Bath and North East Somerset supported a capital funding allocation for the joint sixth form. We now look forward to working with them to prepare for this historic new provision.

This year’s Open Morning, for parents considering a place for September 2012, will take place on Thursday 6 October (please see College Noticeboard for more details).  You are very welcome to come along and see St. Gregory’s for yourself. For more information about the College or to receive a copy of the Prospectus, please contact the College office on 01225 832873.
