Welcome to St.Julian's Primary

 Welcome

We recognise that parents play a vital role in the education of their children. We welcome parents into school and parents and carers often help in classes, with reading, on school trips, family afternoons etc. The school often provides parent workshops and drop in sessions where you can discover more about what we do and how we learn here.

St Julian’s is a busy, happy and thriving school which benefits from being in a beautiful setting surrounded by countryside, open spaces and woodland. The school is committed to outdoor learning and many Forest School type activities are planned within the school day to bring learning to life for our children.

We were last inspected by Ofsted in 2007 when we were judged to be a good school with outstanding features. We are dedicated to continuing to provide an excellent and exciting education for all of our children, every one of whom we recognise as being unique and special.

Our staff are a fantastic team who are proud of all the work we do. The school has been nationally recognised for our outstanding work and holds many awards such as the Inclusion Quality Mark,in recognition of our inclusive approach to education; Healthy Schools; Becta, an ICT award in recognition of the excellent IT offered here; Silver Artsmark which recognises our commitment to and excellence in arts provision, including drama, music and art; Bronze Food for Life partnership & Eco Schools Silver - both of these awards reflect our efforts in growing our own vegetables and crops and promoting healthier and more sustainable ways of living; Sing-Up silver award; Bristol Standard, which is a quality assurance self evaluation for good practice in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): Gold Children’s and Young People’s Charter which acknowledges the enormous contribution our pupils make to the running of our school and how much we value the voice of our pupils

In September 2010, we began a collaboration with Camerton Church School, sharing our Headteacher and further developing the bond which already existed between the two village schools. As we have worked more closely together, we have reached a soft federation.  This means that we have a joint committee of governors who plan events which involve both schools. In addition a further committee, led by Jane Gascoigne, sets the educational attainments and targets for both schools. Already teachers share expertise, learning strategies, inset days and resources across both schools. We plan many events throughout the year that enable pupils from both schools to work together-these include Eco projects, family afternoons, music events, sport activities, outdoor learning and French projects Both schools also offer after school clubs that are open to children from both sites.

This year (2011-2012), the governors have agreed to look actively towards a hard federation with Camerton.  This would mean that the collaboration becomes statutory with one governing body responsible for both schools.
